The legend of Toba Lake

Long long time ago, there wasafisherman lived in batak land. People called him Toba. Everyday he was fishing in a river. One time, he found a fish could talk. He was very shocked, the fish said, “Don’t eat me.” Toba did accordingly and brought her fish to take care the fish.

One day, the fish changed into a beautiful woman. Toba wanted to nary with her.the woman was agree but the woman told, Toba didn’t tell about her self to other people. After that they was married and had one children has name Samosir. He was very naughty, everyday he is only playing with him friends.

When the father fishing in a river, Samosir’s mother wanted him to bring his father’s lunch. On the way, samosir met his friends and he forgot his father’s lunch. When samosir hungry after played, he ate his father’s lunch. When Samosir was eating, his father came and saw that. He was very angry and he said, “you behaved exactly like the daughter of fish.” toba didn’t understand what his father said. He came back to home and asked to his mother. His mother just asked Samosir to run to hill to save his self.

Suddenly, sky become dark and rain fall rapidly without desisting to be accompanied and high wind. All resident along with its house drift to be dragged by rapid current. That area continue to be suffused by water and finally become lake called lake of Toba and referred as adjoining Samosir island.
